Example and interpretation
Encoding “hello world” produces “hello%20world”. Decoding performs the reverse operation. Paste a value intended for a query parameter rather than an entire URL: encoding a full URL would also escape its slashes and punctuation.
When to use it
Use this when preparing a parameter value or checking escaped text copied from a URL. A malformed percent sequence cannot be decoded and produces an error. This utility does not visit a URL or check whether a destination is safe.
Choose the matching operation
Use Encode for raw component text and Decode for percent-encoded text. For example, “a+b” encodes as “a%2Bb”; a plus sign is not treated as a space by this component decoder, so use the exact encoding convention expected by the service receiving your parameter.

Usually no. This operates on a URL component, so encode the individual parameter value rather than a whole URL structure.
Why did a plus sign become %2B?
The tool encodes component text with encodeURIComponent, where a literal plus sign is represented as %2B. It does not apply form-style plus-as-space decoding.
