Example and interpretation
For example, paste {"name":"Ava","active":true} and process it to see each property on its own indented line. If the input is malformed, such as a missing quotation mark or trailing comma, the tool reports a syntax error instead of producing output.
When to use it
This is useful when checking an API response, configuration sample or small data snippet before sharing it. Valid JSON can also be a number, string, boolean or null; formatting does not verify whether its fields are correct for a particular API.
Copying formatted output
The result is still JSON, with indentation and line breaks added for readability. Copy it into your editor or configuration file when you need to inspect nested objects; formatting does not add or repair missing data.
Questions about this tool
Does formatting fix invalid JSON?
No. The formatter reports a parse error for invalid syntax; correct the JSON and process it again.
Can it check whether my API fields are correct?
No. It checks JSON syntax and formats the parsed value, but it does not validate an API schema or the meaning of fields.
